FAQ´s Answers
1. How Many EmpirBus units can a system handle? An EmpirBus system can handle up to 99 EmpirBus units with a maximum bus cable length of about 350 meter.
2. How many outputs are there on each EmpirBus unit? Each EmpirBus unit can handle 1-4 slave modules. Both input and output modules have 8 channels each. This makes it possible for an EmpirBus unit to handle up to 32 channels input or ouput in any combination in multiples of 8.
3. What kind of different slave modules can be used in an EmpirBus unit? There are currently four different slave modules available to the EmpirBus system. The input module, the output module, the light dimming module and the window wiper module.
4. What supply voltage is the EmpirBus system designed for? The EmpirBus system is working with 9-32VDC.
5. Where can I get the EmpirBus Software? The EmpirBus software is delivered with the EmpirBus interface. It is also available on CD or can be downloaded free on this web site.
6. How do I know the EmpirBus Interface is working? The EmpirBus interface is connected via three cables. A 9 pin contact between the PC and the interface. One 9-pin contact between the interface and the EmpirBus unit bus connection and one cable to power the interface. The green LED indicates that the interface has power. The red LED is lit if there are any communication error on the bus.
7. How much current can each output deliver? Each output can deliver up to 8A. The fuse size is set in the EmpirBus Software between 0,5 and 8A.
8. What is the maximum total current that can be delivered through each output module? Each output module can deliver up to 40A.
9. What is the maximum current that can be handled by each master unit? The maximum total load in each master unit is 100A.
10. How are consumers larger then 8A connected? A consumer using more than 8A is connected over two or more outputs. The parallel outputs are then working together making the maximum output 2x8=16A or 3x8=24A.
