EmpirBus CLC - Functionality
EmpirBus CLC is a decentralized CAN-bus based DC power distribution system.
Unlike a traditional system with a fuse panel to distribute power to the consumers, in a EmpirBus CLC system the consumers are powered up via EmpirBus units. The units can be positioned close to the consumers which reduce both the length and area of the cables. The Fuses in the system is built into the EmpirBus CLC units. Each EmpirBus unit needs to be supplied with 9-32VDC power and all units are interconnected with a CAN-bus cable (1-pair).
The systems functionality is built up by input- and output-signals. A input-signal is a switch, sensor or just something that triggers a consumer to start/stop. A output-signal is a consumer light, pump, etc.
Input signals is connected to the closest EmpirBus CLC unit regardless where the consumers it shall control is connected. In other words there is no need for a cable between a switch and its bulb.
The cable between the switch and the bulb is replaced by a subscription in the system. A consumer in the system has a subscription to the input signals which control it. For example a bulb has a subscription to the switch on the wall.
When pressing the switch the signal is sent from the input channel where the switch is connected via the CAN-bus to the output channel where the consumer is connected.
Compare this to a traditional system where the cables for all consumers are connected from a circuit breaker in a central panel, through the switch and on to the consumer.
An EmpirBus membrane switch panel can also be used to control consumers. This reduces wiring even more since 8 switches are available with only 4 wires for CAN-bus and power supply.
EmpirBus greatly reduces the amount of wires needed and the effort to connect them.
Many exciting logical functions like dimmers, time delays and burglar alarm are available.
